Spyros Zagoraios was born in Agios Artmios in Pangrati suburb of Athens on 23 June
At the age of13, he lost his left arm in an accident when a grenade exploded in his school bag. According to Zagoraios, he had found the grenade in a yard and he had thought to be an ink container. He put it in his school bag and took the way home, when the grenade exploded. At that time Greece was under the Nazi occupation.
The loss of his arm had Zagoraios experience &#;racism&#; against people with invalidity. He had said once that his colleagues in the music world used to call him &#;the limp&#;.
Spyros Zagoraios began his career inin Athens and later moved to the earlys he began toaccompany his wife Zoe in singing. Spyros and Zoe were one ofthe mostfamous popularfolksongduets.
He performed manyconcerts inGreeceandabroad for the Diaspora Greeks.

Σπουδαίος λαϊκός ερμηνευτής, στιχουργός και συνθέτης.
Ο Σπύρος Ζαγοραίος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα στις 23 Ιουνίου και μεγάλωσε στον Άγιο Αρτέμιο (Γούβα) του Παγκρατίου. Πέρασε δύσκολα παιδικά χρόνια, που σημάδεψαν ανεξίτηλα τη ζωή του. Στη διάρκεια της κατοχής έχασε το ένα του χέρι, καθώς περιεργαζόταν μία χειροβομβίδα που βρήκε στη Λεωφόρο Βουλιαγμένης.
Γράμματα δεν έμαθε, αλλά η καλή φωνή του τον οδήγησε κατευθείαν στο λαϊκό τραγούδι. Ξεκίνησε την καριέρα του το από την Αθήνα και μετά ανέβηκε στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του άρχισε να τον συνοδεύει στο τραγούδι η σύζυγός του Ζωή και μαζί δημιούργησαν ένα από τα δημοφιλέστερα ντουέτα του λαϊκού τραγουδιού.
Συνεργάστηκε με τα σπουδαιότερα ονόματα της εποχής και ερμήνευσε επιτυχίες, που τραγουδιούνται μέχρι σήμερα: «Ε ντε λα μαγκέν ντε Βοτανίκ», «Άναψε το τσιγάρο», «Προσευχή», «Στης Λαρίσης το ποτάμι», «Τρελοκόριτσο», «Θα πεθάνω γλυκιά μου αγάπη», «Ντόλτσε βίτα», «Κατηγόρα με», «Έγιναν γκρίζα τα μαλλιά μου», «Οι γαρυφαλλιές», «Όλες είσαστε ίδιες», «Ο αλήτης», «Άδικα χάρε καρτερείς», «Η κούκλα», «Πάρτε κύριε λαχεία», «Ο ανάπηρος», «Ερωτιάρης», «Τον χάρο τον αντάμωσαν» και πολλά άλλα.

Στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του άρχισε να τον συνοδεύει στο τραγούδι η σύζυγος του Ζωή, δημιουργώντας ένα από τα πιο λαοφιλή ντουέτα του λαϊκού τραγουδιού. Πραγματοποίησε πολλές συναυλίες στην Ελλάδα και σε χώρες του εξωτερικού που ζουν Έλληνες.
Έως και τα τελευταία σχεδόν χρόνια της ζωής του συνέχιζε την καλλιτεχνική του δραστηριότητα στο Αιγάλεω Αττικής όπου διέμενε και είχε δημιουργήσει το λαϊκό κέντρο «Εντελαμαγκέν».
«Ξεκίνησα από πολύ χαμηλά. Ήμουνα από φτωχή οικογένεια. Είχα έναν πατέρα που είχε μια καλή δουλειά στο αγγλικό ναυτικό, αλλά ήτανε όμως αλανιάρης. Του άρεσε πολύ το θηλυκό το γένος. Και έτσι την βγάζαμε στα ξένα και στην ταβέρνα Το , στον πόλεμο, μας ξεσήκωσε να μας πάρει να μας πάει στην Αγία Παρασκευή. Γιατί ήτανε και θεριακλής κυνηγός, μανιώδης», είχε πει σε συνέντευξή του στα «Νέα».
Ο ίδιος υποστήριζε πως άνθρωπος χωρίς ιδιοτροπίες δεν υπάρχει. «Ό,τι και να είναι, όσοι κανόνες και να υπάρχουνε, χωρίς ιδιοτροπίες δεν γίνεται. Με τη μόνη διαφορά να είναι καλές αυτές οι ιδιοτροπίες, να μην είναι κακές. Να μην υπάρχει μέσα τους το μίσος και η κακία, η ζήλια, ο φθόνος. Να είσαι κι εσύ ευθύς και εντάξει», είχε πει
