Early Life and Education

Roy Blunt was born on January 10, to Leroy Blunt and Neva Dora. Blunt grew up in Niangua, Missouri and later went to Southwest Baptist University for undergraduate studies in history. After college, he joined Missouri State University where he did his post-graduate degree in history.

Roy Blunt is currently married to Abigail Perlman Blunt. The couple has been together since and is raising an adopted child from Russia. Prior to this marriage, Roy was in conjugal relationship with Roseann Ray who he married in The couple had three children: Matt, Amy and Andrew Blunt. All Blunt children work as lobbyists for different companies.

Career

Roy Blunt entered the word of American politics in as a county clerk of Greene County in Missouri. Blunt consecutively won three such elections and remained in the position for 12 years. Building on these successes, Roy was the first Republican elected Missouri Secretary of State in over fifty years. Again, he deployed technology to protect Missouri investors from fraud and, as the state’s chief elections official, rooted out fraud in state elections, insisting on fairness regardless of political party. Four years later, Roy was overwhelmingly reelected to a second term as Secretary of State.

A commitment to students and to educating the next generation of leaders led Roy back to his alma mater, Southwest Baptist University, this time to serve as its president.

He also serves on the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence.
