Karlene Chavis is an American Meteorologist/Reporter/Anchor working with the CBS 8 News team as a Chief Meteorologist broadcasting the weather every weeknight. Prior to CBS 8 News, she was working with the WSVN-TV team located in Miami, Florida where she was broadcasting the weather as a weekend morning meteorologist.

Karlene Chavis Biography
Karlene Chavis is an American meteorologist who is assigned to News 8 as the chief meteorologist. Every weeknight on News 8 on CBS 8 and The CW San Diego, she gives her weather forecast. She previously worked for WSVN-TV as a weekend morning meteorologist.
She attended Arizona State University&#;s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication after finishing high school and earning a bachelor&#;s degree in mass communication and journalism. Chavis went on to Mississippi State University, where she earned a Master&#;s degree in Geological Science.
Chavis began her media career as a weather intern at KNXV-TV, an ABC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. She began working as a reporter and published photojournalist for The Arizona Republic and after completing her internship. She also worked for Gannett Company, Inc. as a web entertainment reporter.
Karlene also worked for CBS Local 2 in Los Angeles, where she was a weekday morning anchor and a fill-in entertainment anchor. She also had the opportunity to put her skills to use as a weekend anchor at KESQ-TV. She currently works for the 7 NEWS weather team as a chief meteorologist.
