gives you the ability to cite reference entries and articles according to common styles from the Modern Language Association (MLA), The Chicago Manual of Style, and the American Psychological Association (APA).

Within the “Cite this article” tool, pick a style to see how all available information looks when formatted according to that style. Then, copy and paste the text into your bibliography or works cited list.

Because each style has its own formatting nuances that evolve over time and not all information is available for every reference entry or article, cannot guarantee each citation it generates. Therefore, it’s best to use citations as a starting point before checking the style against your school or publication’s requirements and the most-recent information available at these sites:

Senators who conspired to kill Julius Caesar

The assassination of Julius Caesar on March 15, 44 BC, also known as the Ides of March, is one of the most pivotal moments in Roman history.

The plot to kill Caesar was carried out by a group of Roman senators who believed that his growing power was a direct threat to the Roman Republic.

The conspiracy, led by key figures such as Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus, and Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus, ultimately led to Caesar&#;s assassination, but it failed to restore the Republic and instead paved the way for the Roman Empire.

Julius Caesar’s rise to power had been marked by significant military and political achievements, including his conquest of Gaul, crossing of the Rubicon, and eventual victory in the Roman Civil War.

By 44 BC, Caesar had been appointed dictator for life, a position that granted him unprecedented authority. Although Caesar&#;s reforms and consolidation of power were intended to stabilize the Roman state, many senators saw his actions as a dangerous departure from the traditional values of the Roman Republic. They feared that Caesar was positioning hi

Questor of Crassus in Syria in 53 After the unfortunate battle of Carrhæ, Syria, he became independent governor of the province, clearing it of the Parthians, and traversing all parts of the country in order to reestablish the fallen prestige of the Romans. Thus he came to Judea, where Pitholaus, a partizan of Aristobulus, had taken up arms against the Romans.

Cassius conquered the stronghold Tarichæa, killed the valiant Pitholaus at the instigation of Antipater, and carried away captive 30, Jews (Josephus, "Ant." xiv. 7, § 3; idem, "B. J." i. 8, § 9). He then went to Rome and was one of the conspirators against Julius Cæsar, who had appointed him pretor of Syria in After Cæsar's murder he was sent as proconsul by the Senate in Thus he came again to Judea, where, upheld by four Egyptian legions, he used his power to exact money from the Jews. The frightened Antipater quickly apportioned among the provinces the talents of silver demanded by Cassius; and his son Herod was the first to pay his share. Malichus, however, the friend of Hyrcanus, seems to have hesitated, whereupon Cassius led away captive the inhabitants of the four cities Gophna, Emmaus, Lydda, and Thamma, and

Gaius Cassius Longinus was born on October 3, 85 BCE. He was a Roman commander, one of Caesar&#;s assassins who later fought against the Second Triumvirate. One of the last defenders of the republic.

    Youth and private life

Little is known about the early life of Gaius Cassius. We know the story that as a young boy he argued with the son of the dictator Sulla about tyranny while in school. Thus, from a young age, he showed an aversion to autocracy. He studied philosophy on the island of Rhodes with the philosopher Archelaos from Athens, which over time resulted in proficiency in Greek. Cassius also became a follower of Epicureanism.

Gaius Cassius married Junia Tertia (Tertulla), daughter of Serwilla &#; mother of Brutus. They had a son who was born around 60 BCE.

    Political career
