उनका उपन्यास &#;गुनाहों का देवता&#; सदाबहार रचना मानी जाती है। &#;सूरज का सातवां घोड़ा&#; की कहानी कहने का अनुपम प्रयोग माना जाता है, जिस श्याम बेनेगल ने इसी नाम की फिल्म बनायी, &#;अंधा युग&#; उनका प्रसिद्ध नाटक है।।
