Works
Balde was born in Busac, Oas, Albay in the Bicol region. He finished a degree in civil engineering and worked as a construction engineer for thirty-three years, after which he retired to pursue a career as an author.
His writer career bloomed and critics noted his unique raw talent. He concentrated in writing creative short stories, poems and novels. He received his first literary award in and has since continued to win acclaim for his work.
Today, he is a councilor of the organization Lupon Sa Wika, a member of the NationalCommission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and director of the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL; English: Writers&#; Union of the Philippines).
He and his family currently reside in Casimiro Village, Las Piñas, Metro Manila.

Abstract:
Naging nobelista at makata si Abdon Balde Jr. matapos ang 33 taong pagtatrabaho bilang inhinyero. Ang papel na ito ay isang pagbasa sa dalawa niyang sanaysay sa Filipino at tatlong rawitdawit sa Oasnon Bikol, gamit ang diskurso ng edad. Ang mga sulating ito ni Balde ay nagsisilbing kundiman para sa karapatang pantao ng mga tumatanda.

Abdon Balde Jr. became a novelist and poet after 33 years of working as an engineer. This paper will read two of his essays in Filipino and three rawitdawit in Oasnon Bikol using age as discourse. These essays and poems of Balde serve as the kundiman for the human rights of the aging people.

Sa simula ng kuwento, makikita sa diskripsyon ng lalaki ang mga katangiang panlalaki ng kanyang minamahal na babae. Magaspang daw ang mga daliri at pinaglaba't pinagsisibak ng panggatong ng magulang. Dahil dito, napagkamalan pa siyang tibo ng kangyang lalaki. At ang simpleng aksyon ng kunwaring pagsasapak sa dibdib ay hindi masasabing karaniwang gawain ng isang babae. Ngunit lumabas din kahit papano ang kanyang katangian pambabae ng sinabing siya'y napakaganda at napakabait. Dito ako naniwala na babae ang pinaguusapan.
Ngunit, marami pang katangian panlalaki ang ginagawa ng babae sa kwento. Siya ang umuutos at nagdadala ng pagkain sa mesa. Siya pa ang nag-aalalay sa kanyang lalaki habang tumatawid ng kalsada.
